Meghan Markle’s first job was at a frozen yoghurt store
Meghan Markle may be known as an actress - and now the fiance of Prince Harry - but the 36-year-old wasn’t always in the spotlight. Her first job was just as un-glamorous as any of ours - she worked in a frozen yoghurt store.
According to the Mirror, the former Suits star worked at Humphrey Yogart in LA when she was just 13 years old. The role, which included serving customers and even cleaning the bins, paid just $USD 4 per hour, the equivalent of $AUD 5.23.
Her former boss Paula Sheftel said: “Meghan was still at school – maybe a little older than 13 as the rules are strict in California.
“She earned minimum wage and was very popular with customers. She had to prove she had an outgoing personality and would work well with staff.”
Meghan has even spoken about the moment she met her idol, Baywatch star Yasmine Bleeth, in the store’s car park. She excitedly told the star “Oh my God, I loved you in that Soft & Dri commercial” she said Yasmine “looked at me and said, ‘Okay, thank you!’”
Meghan has since said: “It’s what I base every interaction with fans on.”
