Meghan Markle was ‘shortlisted’ to be the next Bond Girl

Some say she landed the role of a lifetime when she met her future husband Prince Harry, but if rumours are to be believed Meghan Markle’s run-in with the Prince may have cost her one of the most coveted roles in Hollywood - that of the next Bond girl.

According to the Sun, Miss Markle was one of four actresses shortlisted to play James Bond’s sidekick before her engagement was announced.

Reports suggest that she caught the eye of producers of the 2019 movie Bond 25 during her stint as Rachel Zane in Suits - a show she recently left to become an official member of the British royal family.

A film source told The Sun “Meghan fits the role of a Bond girl perfectly. She’s glamorous and sexy and a good actress.

“The role more recently has gone to actresses deemed to be rising stars, and Meghan certainly was seen as that before her relationship with Harry became public.

“The brief was to find a glamorous rising star, specifically someone American or Canadian.

“Her engagement effectively spelt an end to her acting career so that was the final blow.”

If the stars had aligned differently, Meghan may have been following in the footsteps of former Bond girls Halle Berry, Eva Green and Olga Kurylenko.

Instead, she'll be taking on the role of the newest royal family member when she marries Prince Harry in St. George's Chapel on 19th May 2018.

The couple, who have been dating for a year and a half, announced their engagement last month to worldwide hysteria, and recently spent Christmas together with the royal family in Sandringham.
