Married at First Sight vows promise to “cook and clean clothes”

We dropped the "I promise to obey" line in marriage vows a long time ago, but one woman has taken things a step further by promising to "cook and wash clothes" as part of her vows - and it looks set to cause more than a little controversy.

The woman is a contestant on the new series of Married at First Sight, and we're yet to find out who she is or what she does - but this new promo does show a shocked reaction to her bizarre vow. The groom, John, can be seen looking apprehensive at the alter before she arrives but his daughters give him encouragement with a quick thumbs-up. However, the mood quickly changes when his bride-to-be offers to look after him in the most extreme way.

John's daughters seem thoroughly unimpressed by their new step-mother, and one even breaks down crying, saying "I'm worried about you". We're yet to get a glimpse of the bride, but we're thoroughly fascinated to find out more about one of MAFS' most controversial contestants yet. A step backwards for women everywhere? We can see some outrage coming her way...

Married at First Sight's fourth season debuts on January 30.
