Man wants girlfriend to lose weight, internet shreds him
Monique Penning
A photo of an anonymous man posted to the Humans of New York’s social media accounts has grabbed the internet’s attention, but for all the wrong reasons.
In the man’s own words, he “can’t get past” issues with his girlfriend’s weight, and wonders aloud as to whether there is a “right way to ask someone to lose weight for you?”
The controversial post, which now has more than 9,000 comments on Facebook, reads in full:
“At first I told myself I could get past it. I said, ‘Let’s just see how it goes.’ We had excellent dates. Everything else about her was exactly what I wanted.
“I didn’t want to ruin something good for that one little reason. But it’s been 1.5 years.
