Man apologises for kissing reporter on live TV

A man who caused outrage when he kissed a TV reporter as she was presenting to camera has apologised, saying that his actions disrespected her as a woman and a journalist.

Radio-Canada reporter Valerie-Micaela Bain angrily shoved the man - who has not been identified by name - away when he took her by surprise as she was working at a music festival. 

She later posted photos and videos of the man in a bid to track him down, along with a post explaining her disgust over his actions. "In the end I would like him to understand why his gesture is unacceptable," she wrote.

Bain has since received an apology from the father-of-two, which she posted on her Facebook page, in which he explains that he went too far in trying to get a laugh from his friends. 

"I sent as a message that it was funny, even normal, to kiss a journalist on the cheek during a report," he wrote. "I did not measure up yesterday, of everything that I firmly believe in."

Bain wrote that she would not be filing a criminal complaint, despite the widespread condemnation for his actions. 

"I hope that this incident will remind us that we must not trivialize the attacks, no matter how small they are," she said.
