Man fired from job after accepting boss' sneaky friend request: 'Don't add random people on Xbox'

A man has revealed the rather unfortunate way he got fired from his job.

In a video posted to TikTok, Brandon (@placementco) told followers that he was fired after accepting a random friend request on Xbox. Watch the clip above.

He said, "Yeah, so I got fired from my job today. Don't add random people on Xbox because apparently bosses do that now. And I'm work from home; I play Xbox, you know what I mean."

An unsuspecting Brandon revealed how he found out he was fired, showing followers the termination email he received.

It read, "Hi Brandon, I was hoping to catch you before you left but our lawyers were unavailable for guidance before 4pm today. Upon advice of counsel, you are hereby terminated…"

"I am truly sorry it ended this way; I could not have given you more opportunity, kindness and flexibility," the message concluded.

Brandon captioned the video, "Bruh… today is the day I stop accepting friend requests…"

The clip garnered a lot of internet attention, receiving over 11,000 likes and hundreds of comments from users who chimed in on the unfortunate series of events.

One user commented, "I don't add anyone from work on any social media or tag my job."

Another user warned, "Everywhere is deep diving social medias you have to be careful."

A third added, "This is an entirely new level of micromanaging."

Another woman took to TikTok after she caught her boss complaining about her while she was just metres away and subsequently, decided to quit her job due to the "disrespect".

Hospitality worker Samantha started filming as her manager spoke on the phone with another employee, catching her red-handed while she was in the back office.

Posting the video to TikTok, Samantha claimed her boss' rant started because she "used a to-go container" for the restaurant food, triggering a one-minute tirade.

The audio is mostly incoherent in Samantha's video of her boss, but some soundbites are clear including a frustrated mention of "I'm tired of babying people" and "they're going to get fired".

Samantha then told followers she decided to quit her job after accidentally hearing her manager's outburst.
