Catching cheating partners in the act is becoming more creative as technology develops - and one man has now proved even the humble USB storage device can solve the mystery of infidelity.

The man has shocked TikTok users after detailing how he discovered his partner of six years was cheating on him, using a secret spy camera tucked inside a USB plug.

Paranoid that his girlfriend was likely 'stepping out', the man decided to pull the plug on his suspicions and find out the truth.

In his first video, the man known as "Mr Surveillance" explained how the device worked.

"I think my girlfriend is cheating on me. We've been together for over six years," he told viewers.

"To find out if it's true, I got this hidden spy camera online. Never seen anything like this before, please don't think I'm a creep.

"Going to plug this in next time I leave the house to see if I can catch her."

Installing a covert camera in their apartment kitchen, the man hooked the device up to his phone, explaining he would be able to livestream the video.

Mr Surveillance added he was "super nervous" about the decision.

The video caught Ashley kissing her suitor, and confirmed the scorned boyfriend's worst fears. TikTok

In a follow-up video, the man showed off the finished product, claiming there was "no way" his girlfriend would be able to find the camera.

He then drove off and parked his car down the street, awaiting the fateful moment.

It was then he discovered his girlfriend Ashley strolling into their apartment, holding the hand of another man.

The video caught Ashley kissing her suitor, and confirmed the scorned boyfriend's worst fears.

"You have got to be kidding me. Complete waste of six-plus years of my life," Mr Surveillance claimed.

The video ended with the man breaking up with his girlfriend over text.

"We're over. Pack your things ASAP. Hope you're happy," he wrote.

The videos, which have been viewed over 2.5million times, stunned TikTok users, many of whom offered their condolences for the man.

But a less sympathetic person suggested, "If you bought a camera to spy, it was already over."
