Man's sweet gesture leaves people in stitches: 'At least he tried'

One man seemed to struggle with his attempt to 'navigate' Valentine's Day, with an elaborate gesture that went terribly wrong.

On the most romantic day of the year, the thoughtful fellow hoped to go the extra mile by mapping out his love on the streets, using the running app Strava.

Unfortunately, footage posted to TikTok revealed his impressive moves didn't go as planned.

In a video shared by his daughter Hannah, the man can be seen walking along the streets outside their family home, changing directions to attempt to spell a loving phrase out.

Hannah explained in the caption of her post, "My dad was trying to write 'Love' on Strava for Valentine's Day."

Her dad continues to walk in a bright yellow parka and black beanie, fighting the elements while on his mission of love.

As the man strolls and swerves, it's unbeknownst to him that he was merely producing a wriggly line, despite his best efforts.

With over 600,000 views on the Valentine's Day video, thankfully all was not lost, as social media users were left in hysterics.

"I see no problem, a perfect translation of love," joked one user.

"Just say it means Love in Greek," suggested another.

While others defended the man's efforts, claiming it was the thought that counts.

"I just want to find someone who would go to these lengths for me," said one person.

"A for effort," said another.

While a third simply mused, "love isn't dead."
