Madeleine McCann investigation handed funding boost on eve of 11th anniversary

Police have received another funding injection to continue their hunt for Madeleine McCann on the eve of the 11th anniversary of the British toddler’s disappearance.
 
An extra £154,000 ($AU28,000) has reportedly been handed to the Met Police by the UK Home Office, funding their Operation Grange investigation for a further six months.
 
The operation began in 2011, with detectives looking at several lines of inquiry regarding the disappearance of three-year-old Madeleine during a family holiday in Portugal in 2007.
 
While the task force was scaled back in 2015, it continues to receive funding; the operation’s most recent boost of £154,000 ($264,000) was granted in October.
 
It has been one of the most high-profile and expensive police investigations in history.
