The Balinese princess split from Ellis in October last year after six years of marriage. She hadn't provided a reason for why they separated, until now.

Klim explained that while she is "still very much in love" with Ellis, his struggles were causing a strain on their relationship.

"This situation was more difficult in the sense that he's been unwell for such a long time and the mental toll on me was just huge and my whole body was falling apart, like, I was sick all the time," she said.

Klim further explained that it was a decision years in the making as she was determined to work through the difficulties but it became increasingly difficult to do so.

"I really stuck it out like it was not good for many many years," she said.

She claimed the stress of the situation eventually began taking a toll on her mental and physical health.

Klim said things got to a point where she decided that she and the children could no longer stay in Bali and needed to be back in Australia, closer to their support network.

"I just thought, 'I need to have the support of my family and friends' and I just booked the tickets and found the house and left," she said.

Klim said it wasn't a decision she made just for herself either. She says her children, one whom she shares with Ellis and three from her previous relationship with champion swimmer Michael Klim "definitely felt" the effects of their strained relationship.

"I mean they love him, I love him and he had so many great parts to him and he was a fantastic step dad for many many years," she said.

"But when the sadness was there it was just very heavy and everyone not just me, everyone in the whole house, friends, family, everybody could feel it.

"So yeah, it was definitely something that was constantly there and it just changes how everybody reacts and how everybody feels."

Klim says she wishes the best for Ellis and the father of her youngest child Goldie but is "so much happier" now that she has moved on from their relationship.
