Leigh Sales has shared a tribute to her father a week on from his sudden passing.
In a post on Twitter and Instagram, the anchor of ABC’s 7:30 program described her dad, Dale, as “an awesome powerhouse of a person”.
“A week ago today, my father died suddenly. I never met anyone remotely like him and I'm certain I never will again,” Sales, 45, wrote.
“He was the hardest working man I ever saw, a magical grandfather and a teller (and source) of hilarious stories.
“RIP Dad, you were awesome.”
The journalist’s tribute was accompanied by a photo of her father’s boots, and a condolence letter to Sales’ family from Governor-General Peter Cosgrove.
"The drive her father gave both Leigh and her brother was something you wouldn't have found in an ordinary Brisbane household," a friend said of Sales' upbringing.
The Walkley Award winner shares two sons with her former husband Phil Willis, from whom she separated in late 2016.
