Landlord sends tenant alarming text after spotting flames inside window of home

A landlord in the US received the fright of her life after spotting flames through the window of her tenant's apartment.

The tenant, a 28-year-old from Long Island, New York, shared the funny misunderstanding on TikTok. Watch in the video above.

"Our landlord just texted us a video saying 'omg the fireplace on your tv makes it [look] like the building is on fire,'" Alana, who goes by the handle @awanadance, shared. "This is what she sent us."

In the video, the window is lit up with flames, but on closer inspection, it's clear the flames are coming from the television.

"I was laughing way hard for way too long about this," Alana said.

The comments on the video were equally as amusing, with one person sharing a similar anecdote.

"This happened to me too! I had my boss over for dinner and she left her kids in the car to run in and save us cause she thought there was a fire🤣🤣," the user said.

Another pointed out how strange it was that the landlord was looking into her tenant's apartment in the first place.

"At first I was like, 'mind your own business, landlord!' But then you showed it & I was like 'fair enough, landlord,'" they joked.

But the landlord wasn't actually being nosy.

"To everyone asking about our landlord: she's the literal best! her business is behind our apartment, which is why she saw. not creepy, I promise," Alana said.
