Perth radio host Kymba Cahill breaks down on air recalling a 'horror' car crash she witnessed

Perth radio host Kymba Cahill has broken down on air after being one of the first witnesses on the scene at a fatal crash.

Recalling the scene to her co–host Pete Curulli on Mix94.5's Pete & Kymba for Breakfast, Cahill shared that the sight of the crash "keep[s] playing in my mind like a video."

The radio host explained that she was driving home home on Saturday afternoon when she came across the scene.

"I was maybe the second car to come across the crash," she said.

"We got some of the women out of their cars and I just tried to keep them calm and waited with them while emergency services came and obviously, they were injured.

"There were two cars in the crash, it was a head on collision at 100km an hour. I'm not going to explain what that looks like, but it was horrific."

Emergency services arrived soon after, while Cahill was sat with some of the survivors of the crash, a five-year-old boy named Henry and his mum.

"While the horror of what had happened was unfolding around us, Henry, he was just, he was being really amazing," she said, adding that she had spent the time trying to distract him from what was going on.

Cahill shared that when the police asked her to move her car, she "took off without saying goodbye" telling Henry's mum on air if she wants to reach out, "You know where to find me."

Describing the scene as a "horror" she added that she'll be seeking help to talk about the experience, adding that she hopes the men who assisted the other women before they passed also do the same.

"If people could see what I had to see that day, I could understand them never getting in a car again," she said.

Curulli shared that from his perspective, what really scared him about the situation was that it could have happened to anyone.

"The fact that you came upon it just mere minutes or seconds after it had happened," he told Cahill. "It could have been you."
