Kate sheds light on William's time in the military: 'I've heard stories'

The Duchess of Cambridge has shed some light on Prince William's time in the military in a short film, aired to mark Remembrance and commemorate 100 years of the Royal British Legion. 

In the film, the duchess sits down to speak with Italy Star veteran Colonel David Blum OBE and 10-year old Cub Scout Emily Edge about the importance of Remembrance Day.

In the interview, Blum references his time at the Royal Military Academy of Sandhurst to which the Duchess took a moment to reflect on her husband, Prince William's military training, saying "It was probably tougher then than when my husband did it, but I've heard a lot about Sandhurst."

Prince William, like most royals, joined the Armed Forces and served time with the British Military after completing his time at university.

The Duke completed seven years of full-time military service, initially training as an officer, and was eventually commissioned as a lieutenant in the Blues and Royals Regiment.

William also trained as a pilot, earning his wings in the British military and is Patron of the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and Honorary Air Commandant of Royal Air Force Coningsby.

The Duchess, who is Joint President of The Scout Association, promoted the importance of Remembrance and the acknowledgment of the sacrifices made by servicemen and women.

She awarded 10-year-old Emily with a Remembrance badge to award her for her outstanding efforts in the Scouts. 

Critics and fans praised Kate for her graciousness in the clip, with one person writing, "I love how Catherine makes every event about the people, not about herself. She listens. She connects with people. She is brilliant!"

Another added, "This was just so wonderful, watching three different generations talking about Remembrance and what it means to them. And I have to add that Catherine is a balm for the soul. I love the work she does and the consideration she shows while doing it."
