Duchess Kate hugs midwife who helped deliver Princess Charlotte

It's always good to see a friendly face on your first day at a new job, and Kate Middleton had the sweetest reaction when she bumped in to the midwife who helped deliver Princess Charlotte.

The Duchess — who's currently pregnant with her third child — visited the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists yesterday, where she was welcomed as a new patron.

Catherine spotted Professor Jacqueline Dunkley-Bent in the crowd while she was receiving her certificate of patronage. 

As soon as the ceremony was over, the Duchess made a beeline for the Professor so she could give her a hug.

The pair met while Kate was pregnant with her second child, two-year-old Charlotte. Dunkley-Bent was on duty at the Lindo Wing at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London when the Duchess gave birth in May 2015.

Cameras caught the moment the two were reunited. Kate later said "It's so great to see Jacqui as well" as she left the Royal College to launch a new nursing campaign at St Thomas' Hospital in Lambeth, south London.

Women's health has become a passion project for the Duchess. She has been assigned two new patronages to raise awareness of the work of the Royal College and Nursing Now — a campaign to raise the profile of the profession around the globe.

Catherine staved off the plummeting British temperatures in a matching dress and coat by one of her favourite designers, Jenny Packham. She accessorised with a Stuart Weitzman bag and a pair of Jimmy Choo pumps.

The Duchess' third child is due in April.
