Whiskey company's Christmas advertisement featuring trans acceptance brings internet to tears
A Christmas advertisement film released by J&B Whiskey Spain has brought the internet to tears with its message of respect and acceptance this holiday season.
The three-minute long film, directed by Gabe Ibáñez and set to the song She by Charles Aznavour, is short but impactful.
It starts with a grandfather swiping lipstick from his wife's purse and stealing away to the bathroom to try and apply it.

As time goes on, we see him eventually buy more makeup and even study billboards and advertisements to try and emulate the beauty looks from them.
Finally, we see him master the look in the dead of the night, hiding away in the bathroom while his wife sleeps.
Christmas Day comes and his family, including his grandchild, Alvaro, arrives for the festivities. The grandfather steals Alvaro away and into the bathroom, where he works his magic.

The two emerge from the bathroom and into the dining area where the family has gathered for their Christmas meal, where Alvaro is finally revealed by her true name, Ana.
As the family embrace Ana, the film closes with the words, "The magic is not only in Christmas. It is also in us."
"It is a Christmas story that tells the beautiful story between a grandfather and his granddaughter, and how the love that unites them is so great that it overcomes any prejudice or barrier that may separate them," said J&B in a statement on the film.

"This story is a reflection of acceptance, respect and above all tolerance."
The Marketing Director of Southern Europe for J&B's parent company Diageo, Úrsula Mejía-Melgar, added, "We want everyone to feel free to celebrate the holidays, giving visibility to a reality that thousands of people face, including the LGBTIQ+ collective, who seek a safe space to be and show themselves openly."
"But also for families, who often also suffer the absence of those loved ones who, due to their gender identification or sexual preference, are not present at the parties," Mejía-Melgar continued.
Commenters were in tears while watching the emotional advertisement.

"I literally cannot get through this without bursting into tears," shared one.
"I cannot love this anymore than I do. No Hallmark movie can compare. I cry each time I view this. I can only wish I had someone like this in my life years ago," said another.
"What a twist at the end – I couldn't stop crying. If only there was this much love and acceptance in all families and around the world," one commenter wished.
"Absolutely beautiful. This is exactly what the holidays should be about," said another.
