A helicopter carrying Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared was forced to return to Washington DC after one of its engines failed.

The aircraft, which was carrying the couple to New York, made the detour out of necessity, reports CNN.

Jared and Ivanka safely made it back to Ronald Reagan National Airport, and the couple were then forced to take a commercial aircraft back to NYC.

Sources told CNN that they could not say why the first daughter and her husband were flying by helicopter rather than plane.

According to air traffic control information obtained on the website liveatc.net, the helicopter was owned by the Trump organisation.

Jared and Ivanka lived in New York as a family before moving to Washington with their children to work for Ivanka’s father. However, the move has reportedly been difficult for them, with rumours consistently surfacing about clashes with the White House’s cheif of staff John Kelly.

Vanity Fair recently reported that “for months, the couple has quietly pushed Trump to replace Kelly with a more malleable chief of staff.”

Last month, thanks to new rules drafted by Kelly, Jared’s security clearance was downgraded, meaning his access to highly classified information was cut off.

“Jared is fighting back. And Ivanka is fighting for her life,” a friend of the couple reportedly said.
