Is social media making us unsocial?

I recently did a digital detox at a health retreat.

There was no WiFi so I didn’t really have a choice, and the thought of being disconnected made me quite anxious.

The first two days I walked around with a book in my hand, holding it like a phone and reading it at every spare moment I had.

It was then I realised I truly had an addiction, and social media was my drug of choice.

Then, I got incredible waves of creativity; it seems my brain liked the space I’d given it.

I’d love to say after I checked out I maintained this calm approach to social media, but I didn’t.

As soon as I was back in phone range I felt the sweet relief of WiFi running through my veins again. Back to likes and posts. Back to text messaging rather than talking.

I think social media is making everyone unsocial.
