Sticky situations: Is getting Botox lying about ageing?

I don’t understand the shame surrounding cosmetic treatments. If you can afford it and it makes you feel good — go for it! I will happily talk about the fact that my face is more Botox and fillers than actual flesh.

But some say I’m letting down the sisterhood because it’s lying about ageing.

I disagree. I also dye my hair to cover they greys so to me it’s just an extension of that.

I started getting Botox about ten years ago. Why? Because I have deep frown lines between my eyebrows and they make me look cranky. I’m not a cranky person, so by getting Botox I find my outside now matches my inside. I feel great.

But there’s nothing worse than celebrities lying through their veneers about cosmetic treatments and saying their beauty routine is just drinking a lot of water and wearing sunscreen. Is the key to get people to stop lying about it? 

I celebrate women who age gracefully. Good on you for having enviable genes. I didn’t win the generic lottery so I’ll pay to plump it up.

The other key is knowing when to say enough  No-one walks in and asks to look like Jocelyn Wildenstein first appointment.
