Aussie influencer's rant over removal of Instagram 'likes'

Instagram's decision to remove the number of 'likes' on posts last week has been met with some mixed views.

Whilst some have praised the move believing it's a step towards encouraging more positive mindsets for users, others have slammed the move, especially those who work in the online space.

One person in particular who isn't happy is Australian Instagram star Mikaela Testa.

Following the news of the likes removal, the Melbourne-based influencer went on a tirade over the social media platform's decision calling it a "sad day for those who have Instagram as a job" in a Facebook post.

"Regardless of what you may think Instagram is a REAL job and those in the industry have worked hard to get where they're at," she continued.

Testa also added she has put her "blood sweat and tears" into her following and felt like it was being "ripped away".

The 19-year-old also shared a video where she broke down in tears about social media.

"I just think I'm going to have a really big break from social media for a while, because really it's just... I know Instagram mentally is a problem for me," she tearfully admitted.

"I can't even accept that so I am just going to leave for maybe a couple of weeks so I can get back on track."

However, according to the Daily Telegraph, Testa was back on the platform then next day posting to her 37,000 followers.

The publication reports, the influencer later clarified her video was not about Instagram removing likes and about the "disgusting hurtful comments and messages" she has received.
