Ilona Maher recounts her unsettling experience at a nail salon: 'It's dangerous out there'
USA rugby star Ilona Maher has taken to TikTok to share her recent unsettling experience at a nail salon.
Maher shared that she'd gone to a nail salon for a pedicure around an hour before it closed.
"I was one of the last customers to be in there," the Olympian said.
"As I was in there, employees were leaving, all the customers were gone, it was just me and two ladies."

While the Olympian figured she would be there last customer of the day, she was surprised to see a man walk in while she was midway through her pedicure.
"[He] asked for a pedicure as well, so they sit him down and we're both getting worked on," she explained.
Maher's pedicure was finished first, but since she got regular nail polish rather than gel, she had to wait for it to dry before she could leave.
"So he's just sitting there and they're working on him, and the ladies say to me, 'Just wait'," she recounted.

The women working at the salon put Maher's thongs back on her feet but told her to keep waiting in the salon.
"I wait there for, no joke, probably an extra half hour, twenty five minutes from when it was all done," she said.
"Then they finish up on him, he leaves, and then finally they're like okay we'll close you out now."
The women working at the salon then apologised to Maher for keeping her waiting so long, explaining that they did so because they had wanted her there with them while the man was there.
"I totally understood then why they did that," Maher continued.
When she then walked out of the salon a man – she didn't clarify whether it was the same person who was in the salon or not – asked her if he could go home with her, to which she simply replied "no" and kept walking.

"It's a crazy world," she said. "It's insane out there and I want you to know, you can keep me for as long as you want.
"You can keep me for another hour, I'll cancel my plans if you want me for safety or if you want somebody there just to be a presence.
"It's dangerous out there," Maher added. "Seriously stay ladies, travel together, do your thing."
