A woman who filed for divorce and left her unhappy marriage has fallen in love with a DJ - from her own wedding.

Megan Willis, 27, told DJ Mark Stone, 51, her marriage had been falling apart soon after he spun tunes at her ceremony.

The pair began chatting daily and quickly fell in love, prompting both to file for divorce.

Willis' split was finalised in January 2018 and she moved across the United States to North Carolina, where Stone joined her eight months later after leaving his wife.

The pair have since married one another, telling The Mirror, it "doesn't feel too much different".

"We are in love and have been for a long while, but it's nice to be more 'official' in a sense, and I love having Mark's last name," Willis explains.

The US woman claimed she originally doubted the couple's relationship, due to their 23-year age gap, but quickly discovered their families were delighted they had found happiness together.

While Stone had a vasectomy in his first marriage, he has since had the procedure reversed, as the couple hope to have children.

The couple want to destigmatise age gaps in relationships, and regularly post about married life on their joint social media accounts.

In one post, Stone holds Willis in a tango dip position as the pair share a kiss.

In the caption, the pair say their relationship doesn't "fit into what society looks at as 'normal'" and defend their 23-year age gap.

"We love each other and we will never hide our love for one another," the post reads.

"Just because we have an age gap that's no reason to hide and that's no way to live and be happy! No one should ever have to hide who they love.

"Our age gap relationship isn't 'odd' what it really is, is special and it is ours and that makes it perfectly beautiful."

The couple met at a restaurant called The Crazy Tuna Bar & Grill in Maryland, where Stone was the co-owner and a DJ. They were introduced by Willis' sister.

"Little down the road I got married and my sister hired Mark to DJ my wedding," Willis tells The Mirror.

Within a year, the couple began commiserating about their unhappiness in their respective marriages.

"My marriage ended because I was not fully happy and not getting what I needed out of it. My ex was addicted to a video game that basically became his life and I was basically non-existent," Willis explains.

"I realised that I shouldn't have to feel non-existent or beg for someone's attention, so I filed for divorce."

Willis says Mark was the "friend" she needed at the time, and supported her through every experience.
