Red wine stains disappear 'like magic' using this simple water trick

There are very few stains as stubborn as red wine. Spilling just a few drops can leave seemingly permanent marks. 

Red wine is notoriously difficult to remove from surfaces and fabric, no matter how hard you scrub at them.

Despite popular belief, there is a "miracle" hack that, when actioned quickly, can remove red wine stains in seconds.

Speaking on This Morning, renowned author and cleaning expert Nancy Birtwhistle revealed the simple hack. 

Birtwhistle said when it comes to removing stubborn alcohol stains, "breaking all the rules" means this technique works "like magic."

The Mirror reports this tip works best on freshly spilt red wine. Once it has accidentally left your wine glass, turn on the kettle. 

Grabbing a large bowl, a colander, and some pegs, place the stained item over the colander, then over the large bowl, ensuring it's stretched taut. 

Once everything is in place, secure the fabric with the clothes pegs against the bowl.

Shockingly, Birtwhistle poured the boiled water from the kettle over the fabric, and just "like magic," the stain vanished before viewers' eyes.

Birtwhistle explained this simple hack also works for other stubborn fresh stains, such as fruit juice. 

The tutorial was posted to This Morning's Instagram account, where one fan commented that the easy technique worked for her.

"This really works! I had a guest spill a glass of red wine on a nice linen tablecloth last Christmas Eve. They were so embarrassed and apologetic! I said, "Don't worry, my friend Nancy has the greatest tips and I'm sure she has something that will work." 😁. I didn't do it until the next day, but viola! Gone!!! Thanks Nancy!! ❤️❤️," they commented. 

The boiling water causes the molecules in red wine to disperse, allowing you to clean it off of fabric with ease.

So, next time you have a party and someone spills red wine on you, try this trick, and you should be as good as new.
