While smartphones are blamed for most of the ills of the modern world, psychologist Dr Michael Carr-Gregg believes healthcare technology on these phones can be used to treat many mental health issues.

“There’s good research showing [smartphones] can really help with the building blocks of wellbeing,” he told the hosts of Today Extra.

Carr-Gregg cited mindfulness, exercise and sleep as the three main building blocks — and each of these blocks can be sharpened via dozens of health apps now available, thanks to advancing technology in healthcare.
