5. Oatzempic

Another recipe that topped the list was Oatzempic.

This one is a drink that combines oats, water and lime juice to make somewhat of an oat smoothie.

It went viral with people calling it "Oatzempic" as a comparison to the weight loss drug Ozempic as many touted the drink's weight loss benefits.

Plenty of health experts weighed in on the discussion including clinical nutritionist Sally O'Neill who said the drink can be quite harmful in the long run.

"The goal is to reduce your caloric intake for the rest of the day... there's just so much fibre in oats, you're so satiated that you actually can't continue to eat a lot of food," O'Neill told 9honey.

She said that from a professional standpoint, the issue is that even though all the ingredients do have health benefits, it's not a balanced meal replacement.

"There's no fats and there's not enough protein," she says. "So if we're using that as a meal replacement over a longer period of time, we're looking at things like, obviously, nutritional deficiencies."

These cookies had an absolute chokehold on us this year – especially those of us who are chronically online.

The American cookie chain Crumbl became known for its delicious and incredibly Instagrammable cookies.

Thousands took to TikTok and Instagram to share their own reviews of the sweet treats and plenty more were googling recipes to make their own at home.

The cookies even made ripples in Australia after a fake Crumbl cookie pop-up caused a stir.

Aussies will also soon be able to get their hands on the real deal, with the company announcing an expansion to Australia.

But until then, dupe recipes will have to suffice.

9. Colcannon

Every time I see this recipe I instantly salivate, and it seems I'm not alone.

This delicious Irish mashed potato recipe called Colcannon came in at number nine and surely you can see why.

The recipe is super simple and super delicious, if you want to try it for yourself here's Irish chef Colin Fassnidge's recipe

Cook time: More than 1 hour

Serves: 6

Ingredients

  • 10 Desiree potatoes (about 1.6kg), unpeeled
  • 500 gm rock salt
  • 1 small bunch young cavolo nero, stalks removed, leaves coarsely chopped
  • 3 small spring onions, thinly sliced
  • 200 ml pouring cream, warmed
  • 50 gm softened butter
  • ½ cup (firmly packed) flat-leaf parsley, coarsely chopped
  • For drizzling: extra-virgin olive oil
  • To serve: crusty bread

Method

"One of the first dishes I can remember eating, colcannon is an Irish staple. It may be one of the simplest recipes here but it's the one that will receive the most praise. Simplicity at its best.

"Preheat oven to 180°C. Place potatoes on a tray lined with rock salt and bake until tender (45 minutes-1 hour). Working quickly while potatoes are hot, and holding them in a tea towel, scoop flesh from skin and pass through a mouli or potato ricer into a saucepan (see note). Add cavolo nero, spring onion, cream and butter and stir over low heat to warm through. Add parsley, season to taste, dress with olive oil and serve hot with crusty bread.
