Flatmates post outrageous ad for 'lifestyle happiness manager'

A trio of wealthy flatmates have posted an ad seeking a part-time "lifestyle happiness manager" and yes, it's just as wild as it sounds.

The three men, who are "entrepreneurs" and live in a flash flat in central London, want someone who is willing to wake them in the morning, make them breakfast, clean their clothes and buy their groceries.

Basically, they're after a mother.

One flatmate, known only as James, posted an ad on London's Gumtree hoping to find someone keen to take on the part-time role for just $28 an hour. The expectations outlined in the job listing have led to James and his flatmates being labelled "posh snobs".

According to the Gumtree ad, the successful applicant will be tasked with "improving the quality of [the men's] lives" by managing everything from the food they eat to when their cleaner (yes, they already have a cleaner) gets paid.

Included in the list of job duties were ordering the weekly groceries, making breakfast up to three times a week, cooking other meals, stocking the bathrooms, taking laundry to and from the dry cleaners and changing the bedsheets.

Though most of those tasks could reasonably be expected of, say, a butler or personal assistant, some of the other duties were simply outrageous.

Whoever takes on this role will be expected to wake the men up in the morning – "I really don't like alarm clocks," James writes – researching and planning their holidays, organising parties for them and delivering juices to them at work.

Yes, seriously.

The boys have a "serious sneaker collection" and will expect their new employee to keep an eye out for new shoe releases, "so we're not missing out."

Oh, and you'll have to help the cleaner, who comes three times a week, with keeping the flat neat – because one person tidying up after these three apparently isn't enough.

"Ideally this person would take responsibility for everything though and make sure that all items are taken care of better than Paddington Bear and there is a perfect Eton white shirt available for every day and one for back up," James wrote in the Gumtree ad.

"Oh yeah and we might be getting a dog in 6 months or so, so it helps if you're dog friendly as you're likely to be nannying our little pooch."

He added the next stage of the hiring process would be video interviews, but it looks like those might not be happening.

James has since removed the ad from Gumtree after it was widely ridiculed online, suggesting the blokes may have thought better of trying to pay someone to essentially mother them.

Or maybe the position has already been filled – though for some reason, we doubt that.
