The Gucci swimsuit you can’t actually wear

If you were to purchase a swimsuit there’s a big chance you would wear said clothing item, well, swimming. But Gucci has another plan for its $470 bathers, which has absolutely nothing to do with bathing.

The high-end fashion label threw functionality out the door when it launched its shimmering white one-piece swimming costume that customers are warned not to swim in.

Gucci cautioned shoppers of the no-swimming rule in the product description which reads, “Due to the nature of this particular fabric, this swimsuit should not come into contact with chlorine.”

The pricey swimmers are made of 80 per cent nylon and 20 per cent elastane.

Regardless of the functionality dilemma, consumers can’t get enough of the staple clothing item that they can’t use this summer - with the bizarre bathing suit having already sold out.

Online retailers suggest fashion fanatics pair the beautiful suit, which features Gucci’s iconic logo, a scooped back and crossover straps, with skirts, denim and anything high-rise.

On its website, Gucci has modelled the piece with jeans, heels and a leather jacket.
