Gigi Hadid gets a pixie cut

Supermodel Gigi Hadid has swapped her signature long, flowing locks for a sleek and super-short pixie-cut.

The 22-year-old is the star of luxury footwear label Stuart Weitzman’s autumn/winter’ 17 campaign, where her cropped ‘do takes centre stage.

But there were no scissors involved in the making of the model’s dramatic hair change.

The Victoria’s Secret angel donned a wig for the series of photos that were shot by renowned photographer Mario Testino - the fourth campaign Gigi has fronted for the shoe brand.

The faux cut was inspired by actress Jean Seberg’s character in the 1960 film Breathless, and was brought to life by celebrity hairstylist and wig guru Shay Ashual.

"Gigi takes on a whole new look, capped in a fabulous Shay Ashual wig that obscures her famed tousled golden locks and will have people asking ‘Did she, or didn’t she?” said Stuart Weitzman in an official press release.

The shoes featured in the campaign have taken a back-seat on social media with many Instagram users falling for Gigi’s realistic-looking wig.

"Are you sure about your hair," commented puruhayal.

"Oh my! She looks stunning with short hair," commented sikasenro.

Even though Gigi’s new look was a temporary transformation she hasn’t been afraid to ditch her long, blonde tresses and embrace a complete hair overhaul in the past.

This year, the supermodel managed to fool her 35 million Instagram followers with a photo that showed her rocking a similar faux pixie cut wig on April Fool's Day.

The model-of-the-moment also turned her tresses a light brown mocha shade to match her beige Tommy Hilfiger gown at this year's Met Gala.
