The Duchess of Cambridge won style fame for bringing high street staples such as Jigsaw and Asos into the royal wardrobe but it seems that in 2017 she has loosened the purse strings and gone on a luxury spending spree.

The Duchess’s total outfit costs for the first months of the year is already at a jaw dropping $95,511, according to a calculation made by the blog whatwouldkatedo.

With her total 2016 wardrobe costs reportedly coming to a total of $290,000, it looks like this year is set to be her most expensive yet.

1. Chanel chic: $20,189

On a royal tour to Paris in March The Duchess's outfit marked the first time she had worn the designs of Karl Lagerfeld. In head-to-toe Chanel she was the epitome of Parisienne chic.

The wine-coloured Chanel suit dress she wore cost $11,195, worn with a matching Chanel bag valued at $6,263 and Cartier earrings priced at $2,730, meant that the look is her most expensive of 2017 so far, with a final staggering price tag of $20,189.

2. Seeing green: $15,143

The cost of the floral, green lace gown from British designer Temperley worn by The Duchess in April at the National Portrait Gallery in London remains unknown. 

However, the matching Kiki McDonough emerald earrings that accessorised the look cost a jaw-dropping $14,81, paired with a relatively inexpensive clutch by UK label Wilbur and Gussie at $324, the entire look came to a grand total of $15,143.

3. McQueen Kate: $10,409

In February at this year’s BAFTA Awards, Kate shone in a flawless, off-the-shoulder gown by Alexander McQueen. The look was one of her most expensive gown choices this year coming with a price tag of $10,409.

4. Silver jubilation: $6930

he Duchess of Cambridge turned to one of her favourite designers Jenny Packham, as her designer of choice for a gown she wore to a Gala dinner during her Paris trip. The silver embellished frock’s price comes to a total of $6,930, but it may have been gifted to her for evening which would have temporarily taken the strain off the palace’s credit cards.

5. Jewel in the crown: $4322

The end of February saw the The Duchess appear at the UK-India Year of Culture event, hosted by The Queen at Buckingham Place.

She wore a $1,596 Erdem gown, paired with Oscar De La Renta pumps worth $915. However, her most expensive accessory cost was saved for her earrings at $1,809 from Indian designer Anita Dongre. Overall the final cost of the outfit was priced at $4,322.
