Study finds which hair colour is linked to higher IQ

The "dumb blonde" cliché has given us little to be grateful for (Legally Blonde notwithstanding), but it looks like it may finally be time to lay those tired jokes to rest.

A recent study published in Economics Bulletin examined survey data from baby boomers and found that among white women, those born with blonde hair tended to have slightly higher IQs than average.

Blonde women scored a mean IQ of 103.2, while those with brown hair achieved the second highest score at 102.7.

Before the fair-haired among us start getting too self-righteous, however, it’s worth noting that brunettes had the highest median IQ (as opposed to mean IQ), and that the results relied on data from a single survey.

Much more research would be required to find any definitive correlation, but for those who are well and truly sick of hearing about a blonde, a brunette and a redhead walking into a bar, this paper might be worth bookmarking.
