Peter Philips releases his first cosmetics campaign for Dior

“Women don't necessarily want to look fashionable, but they always want to look beautiful.”

This is what make-up visionary Peter Philips has learnt over his two decades at the top of the beauty industry, and the mantra became the guiding principle of his first cosmetics collection as creative director of Dior make-up.

The campaign for his Cosmopolite range was released overnight ahead of next month’s launch.

Shot by Pierre Debusschere, ecah of the vastly different looks featured can be created using the 22-piece Cosmopolite collection.

“Frozen images are beautiful and capture a moment, but you lose a little bit of the effect of shine and luminosity,” said Philips of the video campaign.

“If a girl moves, you see how a lip gloss, skin texture, glow on the cheek, or a sparkle on the eye comes alive. With a moving image, you can see the light caressing the skin and capturing and reflecting the essence of a make-up product.”

Philips started working on the range during his very first week at Dior back in early 2014. He then decided to road-test his line on the autumn/winter 2015 runway.

Remember the models with eyes painted rich shades of khaki, magenta, violet and sapphire? Well, now you can truly recreate the look.

Philips joined Dior after five years as the creative director of Chanel Make-up.

During his time at the house that Coco built, he reinvigorated Chanel’s cosmetics line with best-sellers such as Le Vernis nail polish in Jade, Mimosa and Particuliere, as well as the Illusions d'Ombre eyeshadows.

We’re predicting the Dior Addict Fluid Shadow will have the same sell-out success. And this is just the first round…
