Net-A-Porter to launch first social network for shoppers

Eliza Cracknell

Scooch it, Instagram and Facebook. Social media just got a stylish little sister. This month, shopping website Net-A-Porter will launch Net Set, the first shoppable social network.

Net Set is available as an app for iPhones, iPads and Apple watches and allows users to create a profile which they fill with Net-A-Porter goodies they want to purchase (or have), along with style inspiration. Users can then browse a feed of what’s trending globally, follow friends and tastemakers, and check out the products from the ‘style tribes’- curated collections that cater to individual style. (Think: ‘Double Denim’, ‘The Bohemains’ and ‘Rock Chic’). Now you can comment on your friends’ clothes and advise them of shopping choices without even being there.

The best bit? Replicating that street style look is just an upload away. Using the Style Match feature, users are able to upload images and the app will suggest similar clothes, accessories and beauty products for replicating the look. Fittingly, you don’t acquire ‘friends’ or ‘followers’ but rather, ‘admirers’.

If you need any more proof all the cool kids are doing it, Net Set is launching with a 15-member style council, “an exclusive and elite group comprising the most stylish and influential style icons in the world”, that you can also interact with. Surely Giovanna Battaglia telling you “You need those shoes” is all a girl ever wanted?

The Net Set will launch May 13th.
