"She crushed me at US Open when I had my best outfit ever," the two-time Australian Open champion said in a post-match interview.
"This was my little revenge."
With a laugh, the star said she was "so disappointed" and "mad" after losing in that particular outfit.

Aside from four grand slam titles, the tennis star has made headlines for her on-court fashion moments, wearing everything from neon to decorated headphones.
In her US Open showdown against Muchová last year, Osaka played in a custom tiered dress by Tokyo-based designer Yoon Ahn for Nike.
The Japanese tennis star arrived on the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in a tulle overskirt that she took off before the match and with a bag adorned with white bows.
The backs of her shoes and her dress beneath the skirt had matching statement bows.
The look was what Ahn described as inspired by "Lolita goth".

Osaka wore a similar coquette outfit designed by Ahn for the first round of the 2024 US Open – except it was in a bright lime green.
The star was again covered in massive bows from head to toe.
In an interview with The New York Times ahead of the tournament, Osaka said the bows were partially a reference to her Japanese and Harajuku culture.

"I wouldn't automatically associate myself with being girlish when I'm on the court, but I tend to gravitate toward really beautiful and cute things," she said.
"I think there's something quite cool in making that an emphasis."

Osaka has continued putting her best fashion foot forward for the 2025 Australian Open.
For her match against Muchová, the tennis player wore sunflower earrings, matching clips in her hair and the same yellow flower motifs stitched on her shoes.
She also wore sunflowers for her first round match against Caroline Garcia.
"The Australian Open's the Happy Slam, so I thought it was really fitting for it to have a sunny theme," she said in Melbourne.
