Model breastfeeds baby down the runway

Model Mara Martin has taken multi-tasking to the next level.

Martin owned the catwalk as she strutted her stuff wearing a lurex gold bikini, envious tan, and the best accessory of all – her baby daughter breastfeeding in her arms.

The beautiful moment garnered excited cheers and applause from the audience.

The new mum was one of 16 finalists chosen to take part in the 2018 Sports IllustratedSports IllustratedSwim Search show for Miami Swim Week, held at the W South Beach Hotel.

Martin shared the images of her breastfeeding her five month old daughter, Aria, with her 29,000 Instagram followers, who were all very quick to applaud the move.

"This picture does so much for us moms, you girlfriend are simply amazing! I love you beautiful girl," posted one user.

"Amazing! Normalizing breastfeeding in the best way with the best attitude. You rock!!" exclaimed a follower.

"Yasss girl!!! Congrats," gushed another.

Before taking to the runway, Martin posted another image of her and Aria on social media, unable to contain her excitement at walking the runway for Swim Week.

"I'm so so so thankful for the entire team at Sports Illustrated for picking me!" she wrote alongside a photo.

Michigan-based Martin says she is in disbelief over the fanfare the runway moment caused.

"I can’t believe I am waking up to headlines with me and my daughter in them for doing something I do every day," she wrote on her Instagram.

"It is truly so humbling and unreal to say the least. I’m so grateful to be able to share this message and hopefully normalize breastfeeding and also show others that women CAN DO IT ALL!"

"But to be honest, the real reason I can’t believe it is a headline is because it shouldn’t be a headline! My story of being a mother and feeding her while walking is just that. Last night there are far more deserving headlines that our world should see."

Martin is referring to other models she shared the runway with such as 22-year-old paralympic snowboarder Brenna Huckaby.

Huckaby, who became the first Paralympian to ever grace the pages of Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit issue this year,  walked the runway with her prosthetic leg and rocked it.

"It was an honor and such a HUGE privilege to open the show in my first runway eveerrrr," Huckaby wrote on her Instagram. "Always step out of your comfort zone because you NEVER know where it will lead you!"
