Since it started in 1948, we've seen some of Hollywood's biggest names leave their mark on the gala's iconic fashion moments.
While stars like Blake Lively and Jennifer Lopez have become regular attendees over the years, they all had to make their Met Gala debut at some point.

Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift had only just released her debut self-titled album when she made her Met Gala debut in May 2008.
The 18-year-old singer wore a gold Badgley Mischka gown for the Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy theme.
Just months after her first Met Gala, Swift would release her Grammy award-winning sophmore album Fearless, featuring tracks You Belong With Me and Love Story.
Jennifer Lopez
Another 2024 co-chair, Jennifer Lopez first attended the Met Gala 20 years ago.
Lopez wowed in a black tiered gown for the 2004 Dangerous Liaisons: Fashion and Furniture in the 18th Century gala.
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend first attended the Met Gala together in 2011.
The fashionable pair matched in all-black looks for the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty theme that year.
Anne Hathaway
Before she was the queen of red carpets, Anne Hathaway made her first Met Gala appearance in a mini teacup dress in 2009.
Hathaway dressed in Marc Jacobs for her debut gala The Model As Muse.
The actress paired her look with statement green earrings and strappy heels.
Emma Stone
Actress Emma Stone also made her Met debut in 2009.
The Poor Things star went colourful for her first red carpet in a bright strapless dress with her hair dyed a bold orange.

Singing icon Beyoncé first walked the Met Gala red carpet in 2008.
The Single Ladies hitmaker wowed in a silk strapless gown for the theme Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy.
Gigi Hadid
Gigi Hadid has worn some iconic looks over the years, becoming a regular celebrity attendee at the gala.
Hadid's first ever Met Gala was back in 2015 for the China: Through The Looking Glass theme where she wore a striking red gown with matching strappy heels.
Kim Kardashian
Kim Kardashian has attended many Met Galas over the years. However one of her most iconic looks to date was her first.
The reality star attended the 2013 gala with her then-husband Kanye West, sporting a very noticeable baby bump.
Kardashian wore a floral printed dress for the theme PUNK: Chaos to Couture.
The look would later be recreated by her sister Kourtney Kardashian for Halloween 2023.
