Hugh Jackman's Met Gala suit is a subtle tribute to his ex-wife Deborra-lee Furness
Hugh Jackman arrived solo at the 2024 Met Gala, marking his first ever appearance at the event without ex-wife Deborra-lee Furness, following the pair's split last year.
The X-Men star has attended fashion's night of nights six times before in 2004, 2014 2017, 2018, 2022, and 2023. Every single time, he had Furness on his arm – until now.

Hitting the red carpet on his own, Jackman wore a simple black Tom Ford suit with a white shirt underneath that featured contrasting black buttons.
He topped it all off with a black bow tie, clean shave and slicked back hair.
On Instagram, Jackman hinted that the suit was the very same one he wore for his Met Gala debut 20 years ago, back in 2004.
"My original Tom Ford tuxedo... refitted and repaired," he captioned a photo of himself getting ready for the event.
Re-wearing his original Met Gala outfit from two decades ago perfectly fits the theme of this year's exhibition, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.
But it's also a nostalgic choice for Jackman, as the last time he wore the suit was with ex Furness at their first ever Met, just eight years into their long marriage.

The couple wed in 1996 and attended their first Met together in 2004, when the theme was 'Dangerous Liaisons: Fashion and Furniture in the 18th Century'.
Jackman wore his classic Tom Ford tuxedo while Furness donned a silky black gown with a matching shawl and fathered bag.
They attended again 10 years later in 2014, again in black an white ensembles, a trend they continued in their 2018, 2022, and 2023 appearances.

In fact, Jackman and Furness always wore black and white to the Met Gala and the actor continued the tradition this year, despite attending solo.
The pair shocked everyone when they announced their split in September 2023 after almost 30 years of marriage.
It came just months after their smiling, loved-up appearance at the 2023 Met Gala, where Jackman also wore Tom Ford.
