Kmart ticketing mistake sparks mass debate: 'Unpopular opinion'
Aussies have become divided after one woman's claims that Kmart was charging more for larger sizes went viral.
Taking to TikTok, an Aussie shopper by the name of Montana Vincent shared a video of herself rummaging through a rack of green shorts at one of the retailer's stores.
In the clip, Vincent notices that the size 6-8 shorts are priced at $15 while sizes 10 and above are priced at $17.

A Kmart spokesperson has since confirmed to 9Honey that Kmart does not alter its price between sizes, claiming that the difference in price is a result of a production error, following a price drop of the short across the board from $17 to $15.
Despite the incorrect price appearing on the tag, it was also noted that the product would still scan as $15 at the register.
Prior to this official confirmation, many individuals and Kmart employees responded in the comments suggesting it was a mistake.
"Definitely a price change. New stock would have come in and just not been marked at the new price! Coming from a Kmart employee," one user agreed.
"On their website they are all $15. I wonder if it's a mistake," another pointed out.

But this didn't stop a debate from erupting in the comments, with many users arguing that retailers should charge more for bigger sizes.
"Makes perfect sense... more material," one commenter wrote.
"Unpopular opinion but as a size 6 person I should get a discount I mean after all I'm getting less fabric," a second chimed in.
"I've literally said this forever, bigger clothes logically need to cost more and children's clothes should not cost the same as adults," a third wrote, while a fourth added: "I'm honestly surprised everywhere doesn't do this. More material more cost."

But this didn't stop a debate from erupting in the comments. TikTok
Others suggested that raising prices for bigger sizes would be unfair, some labelling the move potentially 'fatphobic'.
"It's a bit discriminating (size xs myself) but I believe it's not right," one user wrote.
"if it was about the cost of the fabric, wouldn't it be tiered cost then?" another suggested. "People are just fatphobic".
