Cara Delevingne’s Tom Ford ad banned in the UK

Tom Ford has made a name for himself with racy, hyper-sexual advertising, but this could a be a first for the designer.

Ford’s long-running Black Orchid fragrance campaign starring Cara Delevingne has now been banned from being displayed within 100 metres of any school or place of worship in the UK by the Advertising Standards Authority .

The ad has been on billboards since mid-2014, and features Delevingne floating in a bath of orchids wearing nothing but black nail polish and a smoky eye.

Critics complained that the image was “inappropriate” and “degrading to women”. While the haters originally demanded the ad be banned entirely, the ASA disagreed, saying “it was unlikely to cause serious offence and did not degrade or objectify women.”

If they’re offended by this one, we can’t imagine what they think of the ads for his men’s fragrance…
