Australian Fashion Week saw the debut of a rather unexpected model this morning, as a man inadvertently walked the COMMAS show at Tamarama Beach in Sydney.

As models strode down the cement staircase and onto the sand, so did a member of the public, wearing a casual, flowy white shirt and swim shorts, as per a video from So Sydney!

Seemingly oblivious to the intricately orchestrated affair going on around him, the man – later identified as David Handley – plopped his belongings down right next to the "runway" the models were following and began an extensive stretching routine.

He then shed his clothes and went for a dip in the ocean, being periodically seen in the background of the shots as the models as he came up for air.

Spectators were delighted by the interruption, being seen in videos giggling as they spotted the man in the background of the high-fashion looks and the nonchalant models.

Commenters were also entertained, with one asking, "Who is this legend"

"could this be more Australian or what?! lol," another said.

One thought the most hilarious moment was "when he's just splashing about".

But some, such as Irish chef Colin Fassnidge said, "It's a beach …… not unexpected!"

"You mean fashion show crashes man using the beach for what beach should used for," another said.

It's not the only mishap to hit the runway at this year's Fashion Week.

Fashion enthusiasts, influencers, and runway models at the open-air Carla Zampatti show at The Park Hyatt in Sydney were hit with heavy rain on Australia Fashion Week's opening night.

Despite the rain, attendees stayed seated and waited for the show to start, with some whipping out their phones to record the "fashion catastrophe."

"It's okay because I'm next to a hair expert," she joked. "I'm fine, everyone else is in big trouble."

The video then cuts to show models strutting down the runway in the pouring rain.

Despite the unwanted weather, the show continued through the rain and the winds.
