A hospice vet shares the two words she hates to hear pet owners say when saying goodbye
It's a thought that runs through everyone's mind when they decide to get a pet: Am I going to be able to say goodbye?
Unfortunately, our pets lives are much shorter than ours. We usually have a good 10-12 years and then it's time to say goodbye.
Some owners prefer to be by their pet's side in their final moments while others simply find it too difficult to be in the room.

Mobile hospice vet Faith Banks said it's important to be there for your pet and offer comforting words and love before they pass on.
But, there are two words she hates to hear from pet owners in that moment.
In a video posted to TikTok, Banks said, "The last words you say to your pet are very special and meaningful.
"I hear the final words many people say [to their pets] and they do stick with me."

Much of what she hears is exactly what you'd expect – pet owners telling their pets they love them and are going to miss them, promising "see you again" and asking them to "wait for me."

And while Banks said that it's important to speak to your pet as they pass on, the one thing she doesn't want to her you say is "I'm sorry."
"I'm sorry' is one I don't love to hear because I feel that those people have done so much for their pet," she explained in the video.
"I understand you're sorry you can no longer be together but I hope they're not apologising for anything they have done wrong."
