The surprising trigger behind popular breed's 'aggressive' reputation
Bulldogs have long had a reputation for being aggressive, dangerous and antisocial.
One dog trainer, however, has explained that although some pet owners struggle with their bulldogs showing signs of aggression, a more predominant issue they struggle with is consoling their pets during and after separation.
Taking to TikTok, dog behaviourist Jade Nicholas shared a video explaining many of the misunderstood behaviours of popular dog breeds.

When she got to bulldogs, the trainer showcased the ways this breed is often misunderstood by their owners.
"I do see them for aggression, but actually more often than not it's for a separation related problem," she says in the clip.
She went on to share that bulldogs do not enjoy being left alone, and that separation is what triggers any unruly behaviour.
"They love their humans and they do not want to be away from them and they can become really destructive and difficult when left," she continues.
"So if you're working a long day at work a bull breed is absolutely not for you."

The trainer instead suggested that a rescue greyhound would be more suitable for someone who doesn't have an excessive amount of time to spend with their dog.
"You're going to want a rescue greyhound or something like that," she says.
"[Something] that is going to sleep for the day."
"Unless you want to replace your entire kitchen three times," she adds.
The cockapoo breed is also noted in the video to be a "clingy" breed.
"If you want a dog that is going to be really great left alone I'm suggesting this is not the best dog for you," she says.
