Woman demands mums ‘try a little’ on school runs in viral post

Morning school runs are often a mess of hastily packed lunches and telling the kids – for the third time – to get their uniforms on.

But a US mum has taken to Facebook with a self-congratulatory rant about how other parents should “try a little” at morning drop off.

The post, which was shared to the Sanctimommy Facebook page, starts by pointing out everything mums are apparently doing wrong.

“Ladies, even if you aren’t getting out of the car at drop off can you please try a little,” she wrote.

“All we see is rat nest hair, no makeup, eyebags out to wherever and […] I think I smell morning breath coming from these cars.”

If the patronising tone of her criticisms weren’t enough, the woman then talks herself up through a ‘quote’ from her seven-year-old daughter.

“My daughter said to me, ‘Mommy you are so pretty. My friend’s mommies all look so old. I’m so proud of you and that you are my mommie.’”

Because that’s totally the kind of thing a 7-year-old would say.

The mum rounded her post off with a final jab at the other mums by roping their marriages into it.

“If my 7-year-old can see you aren’t even trying, what is your husband thinking? Take some pride.”

To absolutely no one’s shock, the internet wasn’t impressed.

“My husband is thinking ‘thanks, wife, for dropping the kid off at school so I don’t have to’,” one said.

Another took aim at the woman’s insistence that mums dress up for drop off.

“If I washed my hair and put on makeup to take my kids to school my husband would have hired a private detective to find out who I was having an affair with,” a commenter wrote.

The ‘quote’ from her daughter was another hot topic, as just about everyone felt it was totally made up.

“That’s exactly the sentence structure, grammar, etc, that my 7-year-old daughter would have used if I were lying about something that never happened too,” one commented.

It seems that this angry mum should learn something all children are taught; if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.
