Couple welcomes sextuplets after fertility struggles

Eric and Courtney Waldrop tripled their brood overnight when she gave birth to six children last week.

The Alabama mum-of-nine, who previously underwent fertility treatments after suffering miscarriages, confirmed all six babies were doing well in a Facebook post.

“They are all off the ventilator as of right now. They are such tiny miracles and fighters,” she wrote.

Sharing photos of the new additions, three boys and three girls, she also revealed their names: Blue, Layke, Tag, Rawlings, Rayne and Rivers. She added that she was still in recovery but was “getting a little better each day”.

But the pregnancy and birth had taken its toll on her body, she said.

“Today has been very hard for me. My body is in complete shock after growing 6 babies…  [I] have been very weak,” she wrote in one post. She added in another: “My recovery is a slow go. My body is still in such shock.”

Courtney, a primary school teacher, told PEOPLE when she first found out about the pregnancy she was concerned about how she was going to deliver six babies “without something happening to them or me.

“There was a lot of fear. We didn’t know what to do or think."

The couple has been together since middle school and wed in 2004, welcoming their first child four years later and twin boys in 2012.
