Mum shares story of premature 'miracle baby' born in amniotic sack

 A woman who gave birth at 29 weeks is sharing the incredible story of her son being born en caul.

Raelin Scurry, from the US, was pregnant with her second child when she began to experience contractions two months before her due date. Initially believing they were Braxton Hicks, Scurry didn’t worry too much. However, she soon began to realise that she was in labour, so she and her fiance started the drive to the hospital.

Scurry shared her story on Instagram, explaining that before she knew it her baby boy had arrived right there in the car - but he was in en caul, meaning he was in an intact amniotic sack.

“The dispatcher told us to pull over,” Raelin explained. “But I knew we would make it to the hospital before they would make it to us. So I told Ean to keep driving.

“I was so scared. My Fiance was so calm driving and on the phone with 911.”

She explained that the baby was still for a little while, but he eventually began to move and they made it to the hospital within seven minutes.

“He was 3lb 1oz. He doing wonderful all things considered,” she explained. “I know he's going to be an awesome little man! He is truly a miracle baby. We are so blessed to be his parents.”

According to Scurry, only one in every 80,000 births leads to the baby being born en caul, but she believes that the sack kept him safe until the family arrived at the hospital.
