Mum left mortified at parent-teacher night for hilarious and crude 'parenting fail'

Parent teacher nights can at times be a struggle for parents who have to endure harsh conversations about their children's behavior and learning, leaving them disappointed and embarrassed of their kids.

One UK mum, however, was fully to blame for her daughter's embarrassment, after realising she had sent her to school with what she thought was an 'educational' memento from a family trip to the museum.

"I sent my eight year old to school with this postcard. The postcard was covered in penises," Rebecca Fisher revealed in a Facebook post recounting the story.

Fisher shared her epic 'parenting fail' on the Facebook group Family Lowdown Tips and Ideas.

"A couple of weeks ago we took Elsa to the museums in Cambridge. She is learning about Romans at school so we visited The Museum of Archeology as they had Roman pottery," she wrote.

Fisher was trying to be a supportive mum, inspiring Elsa to be more interested in the topic and sparking her curiosity around Roman history.

After a great day at the museum, the mum wanted to encourage her daughter to share her trip with her classmates and teachers so they brought home a memento.

"We purchased a postcard at the end of the visit for her to take into school. Said postcard featured a Roman piece of pottery on it," she wrote.

Fisher was proud of her efforts as a mum that day – "I felt like we had done a cracking job" – that was, until Elsa's parent-teacher night, when she realised she had completely missed something on the postcard.

"Elsa's teachers mentioned the postcard and how it had made them laugh," she recalled after being asked whether she realised what was on the pottery in the photograph.

"Obviously we didn't because the pottery was covered in penises," the mum admitted to the Facebook group.

She called it the most 'mortifying' moment and was so ashamed that she didn't think she could ever get over it.

After sharing the story to the Facebook group, thankfully Rebecca was met with a wave of support from parents who found the incident hilarious.

"This is the level of parenting I hope to achieve one day! Well done," one joked on the post. Another said, "This is absolutely brilliant!".

Since posting the story has gathered over 3500 likes and continues to spread laughs across the parenting community online.
