Mum explains why she takes Christmas tree down on December 25

9Honey Parenting

At the end of a busy Christmas Day, most parents struggle to find the energy to get off the couch - let alone undertake the thankless task of pulling down and packing away their family's Christmas tree.

Not this dedicated mum. Georgia Schofield took to TikTok to tell why she takes her family's Christmas tree, and other festive decorations, down before 11.59pm on December 25 each year.

The UK mum uploaded a time lapse video of herself pulling the tree down and removing all traces of Christmas, explaining she did so as her daughter's birthday is on Boxing Day.

In a follow-up video, after being asked why it was so important for the Christmas tree to be down before her daughter's birthday, Georgia said: "If my birthday was the day after Christmas, I could think of nothing worse than still having the tree up. That's why I take it down to make it as normal as possible for her."

Some viewers couldn't see a problem with having a Christmas tree up on your child's birthday, but many who have family members with birthdays close to December 25 understood the mum's thinking.

"My nephew's birthday is six days before Christmas, my sister would put the tree up the day after," one woman wrote. "So I understand."

Georgia posted a second time-lapse video showing her decorating the house for her daughter's third birthday once the Christmas tree was down. There is no doubt her daughter would have loved her Paw Patrol party - making her devoted mum's efforts worth it.
