Mini ninja warriors tackling DIY obstacle courses

Five-year-old Lylah wants to be a Ninja Warrior when she grows up.

This YouTube video of the blonde American cutie tackling her own backyard obstacle course has gone viral with over 1,199,240 views.

Her very handy Dad built the course for his daughter after she watched the American series of Ninja Warrior and he's now launched a Go Fund Me page to raise money to build improved structures for his warrior wannabe daughter.

Since Nine aired the popular and family-friendly Ninja Warrior Australia series here, which concluded last night, Aussie kids are also diving, jumping and swinging through DIY courses in backyards, livings rooms and local playgrounds — just like my son here in his favourite Sydney playground (because even though he's asked me to build an obstacle course in our forever house, I haven't as yet). 

And then you'll see my daughter literally climbing her 'spider wall' — my hallway.

Kids and their families are also flocking to the few kid-friendly obstacle courses through the country.

There’s the new Enduro at Miranda’s Enduro centre, where your kids can have their birthday party and race through the course against the clock. It's got obstacles such as a flying fox, cliffhanger and a spider wall. 

Australian experts have tried every trick in the book to engage children into physical activity and beat the obesity crisis — but it seems almost impossible obstacles, a stopwatch and a healthy dose of competition has captured the imagination of children everywhere.
