In news that will surprise exactly no parent ever, children can become a little too attached to technology. Be that an iPhone, iPad or a PlayStation, a child left to their own devices will spend their time on, well, devices.

This leads many parents to take the necessary step of hiding them out of sight, which works fine unless you forget where you put them.

Singer Katharine McPhee Foster, wife of legendary musician David Foster, just found out the hard way that you need to keep track of where you hide your children's devices when she accidentally 'baked' her toddler's iPad in the oven.

And she has shared the aftermath in a video she posted to her Instagram page overnight.

The video begins with a dressed down Katharine in her kitchen.

"Katharine, I thought something smelled funny," a voice can be heard off camera. "Why the hell is the iPad in the oven?"

"The iPad is in the oven because he kept asking for it," Foster replied, as her toddler son Rennie can be heard saying "Help me, help me Mummy," over and over again.

Foster then dons heavy duty oven mitts before attempting to remove the melted iPad from the oven, as the other women discuss the smell it is emitting.

"Oh my God, it smells really bad," McPhee says, as she lifts the mangled remains of the iPad, before someone suggests it's "probably toxic" and they should get it outside.

Foster explained how the incident happened in comments she added across the screen of the video. "Just over here cooking iPads. I tried to hide it and forgot it was in there while heating up the oven for my chicken special," she wrote.

"Poor Rennie saying 'Help me Mommy'," she added, before tagging real estate agent Kelly Viavattine, whom she said she "can always count on to capture my highest moments."

It was a welcome light-hearted moment for Foster, whose family endured a tragedy recently when the nanny who cares for Rennie died suddenly while the couple was overseas on tour.

McPhee was forced to pull out of her remaining tour dates in Asia in August as a result of what she called "a horrible tragedy in our family."

It has since been revealed that the nanny was at a car dealership in LA when she was allegedly struck by a car. She died in hospital.

The couple welcomed Rennie in February 2021 when she was 36 and her husband was 72. He is her first child and her husband's sixth. She said earlier this year she would like another baby with Foster but was in 'no rush'.
