Dad's the word: NRL great Jonathan Thurston was daughter's Book Week inspiration

Book Week ... whether you love or loathe it, you're still tasked with coming up with an outfit.

While some may agonise over the perfect costume, and the rest of us make a book fit with whatever we have on hand (an old fire-fighter costume and a Spot book in this house). NRL great Jonathan Thurston's eldest daughter Frankie, nine, needed only to look to her famous dad for inspiration.

In photos shared to her mum Samantha Thurston's Instagram, Frankie can be seen donning a North Queensland Cowboy's kit, headguard and holding a copy of her dad's autobiography JT: The Making of a Total Legend.

Completing the outfit was a football, some drawn-on facial hair and tufts of a wig poked through the headgear.

Many of Samantha's followers gushed over the creative outfit.

"Omg the hair out the top and the beard, I love this!," wrote one. "Frankie's stubble is on point," added another.

"She's got spunk and I'm here for it," agreed another.

"Frankie wins book week!" declared one follower. "So awesome!! Frankie looks like the real deal. Dad better watch out!," shared one fan.

Frankie wasn't the only Thurston who got into the spirt of the week. Younger sisters Charlie, seven, and Lillie, five, also dressed up.

Lillie dressed as a zookeeper to tie-in with Mary Murphy's book The Bus to the Zoo, while Charlie took inspiration from the Harry Potter series, dressing as Luna Lovegood.

It's not only JT's kids who are big fans of the footy legend, who lent his voice to a recent Bluey episode, The Decider, depicting the NSW/QLD rivalry of the State of Origin.
