This dad ‘breastfeeding’ his ‘confused’ daughter has divided the internet

A video of an infant girl attempting to breast-feed  from her father has  sparked intense debate.

Last week, father Chris Brown, shared an eight-second clip of his four-month-old daughter, Leilani, attempting to feed from his chest.

"Baby girl was OBVIOUSLY confused 😭😭😭😂," Brown captioned the video that was shared with his 3,395 Twitter followers.

In the clip, Brown can be seen cradling his young daughter and laughing as she attempts to breast-feed from him.

The video  quickly became a viral sensation with over 4.86 million views and 63,000 retweets.

But reaction to the clip has been mixed with some users labelling it as a "sweet" moment, whilst others have taken aim at Brown’s parenting skills.

"It’s not weird it’s sweet. It’s one of those common moments every dad goes through with their baby, it’s cute and funny." commented one Twitter user.

"You play too much 😭 don’t let her do that." commented another.

"You want a baby to suck on your nipples for no reason! Weird." stated another.

"This is child abuse to the extreme. Shameful. Not cool brother," commented a Twitter user.

Brown, who hails from McDonough, Georgia, spoke to Good Morning America about the reaction to his candid clip.

"I was just sharing a moment of bonding between my daughter and I. Babies, like we all know, do baby things," the father told the program.

"So even though I didn’t know that babies find the nipple for comfort, I did think the video was incredibly funny and I wanted to share that laugh with my followers and friends on my social media."

The father  also added that he is choosing to ignore the criticism.

"Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but maybe those opinions just lack the proper information and knowledge behind them."
